Marion Catherine Baker, 85, of Osseo, formerly of Superior, died Friday, Feb. 19, 1999, at Osseo Area Medical Center. She was born June 30, 1913, in Superior, to Edwin and Emma (Hill) Hedberg. She married Oris Baker on Oct. 7, 1936, in Waukon, Ill. He preceded her in death on May 15, 1994.

She graduated from Luther Hospital School of Nursing in Eau Claire in 1935 and worked at Luther Hospital there until 1942 when she moved to Superior, where she worked at St. Joseph's Hospital and the Superior Clinic.

While in Superior she was active in Christ Lutheran Church as a charter member of the Gloria Dei Guild, a member of the Altar Guild for many years and taught Sunday School.

In 1978 she moved to Osseo and was active in the Osseo Lioness Club, Osseo Senior Citizens, AARP, was a past president of the Osseo Hospital Auxiliary and a member of the Luther Hospital Nurses Alumni.

She is survived by two daughters, Kathleene (Gerald) Menzhuber, Minneapolis, Carol (Eugene) Rich, Heber Springs, Ark.; a son, John (Linda) Baker, Milwaukee; a sister, Betty Smith, Milwaukee; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a great-grandson, Thomas; and two sisters, Ethel Lower and Doris Waletzko.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Foster, with the Rev. Dennis Voss officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Schiefelbein Funeral Home, Osseo, and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.

Should friends desire, memorials be made to Christ Lutheran Church, Superior, or St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Foster.
