Harrison "Scotty" Scott, age 83, of Greenwich, died Monday, December 15, 2008 at the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky after a lengthy illness.
He was born May 3, 1925 in Norwalk, son of the late Eugene and Orpha (Knisley) Scott. He had lived in Monroeville for several years, in Port Clinton for 7 years and Greenwich since 1974. Scotty had served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theatre, where he received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star medals. He had worked at Norwalk Furniture for several years and the former Sheller Globe in Norwalk for 31 years where he retired in 1991. He enjoyed flea markets, auctions and baseball. He was active with girls softball in Greenwich in the late 1970's and early 1980's. Scotty was a Life member of the Norwalk V.F.W. Post 2743
He is survived by his wife, Bertha G. (Farley) Scott, whom he married September 7, 1948; his children, Maurice "Mickey" (Carol) Scott of Hamburg, New York, Larry (Teresa) Scott of Ocala, Florida, Robin (Evelyn) Scott of Louisville, Ohio, Charles (Thomasene) Scott of Bozeman, Montana; 11 grandchildren, 3 stepgrandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren; his sister, Violet Billett of Sandusky. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Michael Scott, 5 brothers, Charles, Clifford, Richard, Raymond, Clarence Scott, 2 infant sisters Mildred and Enza.
Friends may call from 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 17, at the Eastman Funeral Home, 49 W. Main St., Greenwich and from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Thursday with Pastor Dave Manley of the Greenwich Church of Christ officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at Greenwich Greenlawn Cemetery.
