Funeral services for Mrs. Lora Mae Thompson Peters will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 3, 2008 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, Lamy Lane Monroe, LA. Dr. Alan Miller will be officiating. Interment to follow at Monroe Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Peters passed away on Friday, November 28, 2008 after a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer. Lora graduated from Neville High School in 1937, subsequently acquiring a secretarial degree. She retired from Northeast Louisiana University after a fulfilling 40 year secretarial career. She has been a member of First Baptist Church- Monroe for 71 years.

Lora was a loving daughter, mother, and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and caregivers. She was preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Leauna Brown Thompson; her husband, former Monroe Police Chief, Moise L. Peters; and son-in-law, Billy Ledbetter.

Survivors include her daughters, Linda Peters Ledbetter of West Monroe, LA and Sue Peters Barnes of Ocean Springs, MS; her son, James L. Peters of Monroe, LA; five grandchildren, Larry Green and wife Marla of Porto Alegre, Brazil, Deborah Zizzi and husband Henry, and Zach Green all of West Monroe, LA, Chad Parker and wife Jackie of Alexandria, LA, and Brad Parker and wife Leah of Monroe, LA; and eleven great-grandchildren, Kristina, Mary Kathryn, Luke, and Landon Green, Hannah, Evan, and Clay Zizzi, Hayden, Luke, Sydnee, and Avery Parker; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Chad Parker, Brad Parker, Zach Green, Dr. Henry Zizzi, Joel Peters, Will Peters, and Jimmy Lee.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Kline Ledbetter and Jerry Brown.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Henry Zizzi, for his loving care and dedication given to our beloved mother and grandmother during her lengthy illness.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home- Monroe.
