Archie Raymond Thompson, 60, father-in-law of Monroe Chief of Police M. L. Peters, died early Friday morning after a long illness.
Mr. Thompson, who resided at 905 South 4th street in Monroe, was a retired Missouri Pacific railroad employe, and a veteran of World War I. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Monroe, and the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen.
He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. M. L. Peters of Monroe; one brother, Sam Thompson of Monroe; two sisters, Mrs. Callie McCain of Monroe, and Mrs. A. R. Grant of Grayson; and two granddaughters.
Mr. Thompson's body will lie in state at the Hall Funeral Home chapel until 2 p.m. Saturday, when a short funeral service will be held.
The body will then be taken to the Old Bethel Church near Clarks for a longer services, with Rev. J. P. Horton, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Monroe, officiating.
Interment will be in the Old Bethel Church cemetery.
Pallbearers at the services will be Lloyd Brown, Gabe Thomas, P. P. Craven, Alvia Andrews, George Dent, and A. R. Grant.
