She was born on July 18, 1909 in Wellsville, Cache County, Utah. She was the oldest child of Thomas C. and Catherine Stoddard Brenchley. She attended South Cache High School.
She married Heber Grant Hammon on February 9, 1928 in Brigham City, Utah. The marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on November 23, 1932.
She has lived the past 53 years in Sunset. She assisted in the family business in Sunset. She has been a Primary and Sunday School teacher, Stake Relief Society Board member, Relief Society Counselor, and a visiting teacher.
She was a member of the Sandridge Camp of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers where she was the lesson leader for ten years. She had also been a correspondent for the Roy Sun Chronicle for 17 years.
She and her husband had traveled extensively across this country, Canada, Mexico and Europe.
She is survived by a daughter Catherine H. Sundwall (David), Silver Spring, MD: a son, Dee Jay Hammon (Shirley), Brigham City, UT; son-in-law Sidney Sly, Roy UT; daughter-in-law Karen C. Hammon, Clayton, CA; and a brother Thomas Brenchley, Roy, UT; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren also survive her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two daughters, Leila Elaine Hammon and Hetty Sly, a son Heber Grant Hammon Jr., two sisters, Edith Stephens and Elaine Leavitt, and a brother, Len Brenchley.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 1, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sunset Stake Center, 220 W. 975 N. with Bishop Dan Hole officiating. Friends and family may call on Thursday at Myers Mortuary in Roy, 5865 S. 1900 W. from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday at the church from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services.
