Jessie "Jimmy" Elmer Dent, age 73, of Stafford, born and raised in Cherry Hill, died Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at Mary Washington Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
A lifelong commercial fisherman, avid fan of the Washington Redskins, Richard/Kyle Petty and also loved to play Texas Hold 'em poker.
Jimmy is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Mary Virginia Dent; five daughters and their husbands, Mary (Tootie) and Tom Radtke, Sharon and Kenny McDaniel, Karon and George Chakurda, Sheila and Chris Donnelly and Cheryl and Leonard Tolson; 12 grandchildren, Dwayne Wait and his wife, Eva, Melanie Huppmann and her husband, C.J., Jennifer Brown and her husband, Clint, Shannon Radtke and Doug Hooks, Britnea St. John and her husband, Chris, Jessica McDaniel and Jerry Norman, Tabitha Chakurda and Kenny Urf, Christopher Dent, Amber Cook, Lynsey Tolson, Mekenzie and Aaron Donnelly; seven great-grandchildren, Hailie and Makayla Huppmann, Darren and Ryan Wait, Kyleigh St. John, Lyla Brown, and Jerry Paul Norman; five brothers and sisters, Edward Dent, Marvin Dent, Cliff Dent, Hilda Barg, and Doris Cassidy.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Nellie Dent; four brothers, Melvin Dent, Kenny Dent, Charlie Dent and Jr. Dent; and one sister, Helen Maddox.
The family will receive friends at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, Stafford Chapel on Friday, November 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday November 22 at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Paul Curry and the Rev. Bill Kittle officiating. Interment will follow at Stafford Memorial Park.
