Ed was born in Cherry Hill, Virginia to William and Nellie Dent on November 19th, 1929. He went to school in Dumfries, Virginia. He married Nellie Perry on April 4th, 1953. He worked as a commercial fisherman and crabber for the majority of his life and then later opened Papa Dents Crabs where he was able to meet and entertain the many customers that loved him. He was a veteran who served in the Navy and then the Air Force, as well as, a member of the American Legion.
Ed is preceded in death by his mother, father, seven brothers, one sister, and his two wives. Ed is survived by his children and their spouses; Edward Allen Dent and wife Sandra Dent, Deborah Underwood and her husband Wayne Underwood, Kenneth Dent and his wife Kay Dent, and Dennis Dent and his wife Patty Dent. His sisters; Hilda Barg and Doris Cassidy, as well as, nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
