KOOSHAREM Laid to Rest
Funeral service for Mrs. Inger Kjerstena C. Peterson, who pased away at the Salina hospital Thursday, were held Sunday afternoon in the Koosharem hall, where the decorations were appropriate and beautiful and the flowers profuse. Sisson J. Hatch of the ward bishopric conducted the services. Andrew Anderson and J. F. DeLange offered the opening and closing prayers. Peter E. Olsen of of Manti, a worker in the temple; Mrs. Hannah C. Ogden of the stake relief society board and presidents R. D. Young and John Christenson of the sevier stake gave commendable talks. The Koosharem choir relief society sisters and Mrs. Myrtle C. Bagley furnished the singing, with Miss Vee Nielson at the piano.
A long cortege of cars followed the remains to a final resting place in the Koosharem cemetery.
Mrs. Inger Kjerstena Peterson was born in Denmark, December 6, 1857, and emigrated to this country in 1863, settling first in Manti, then in Salina where she was married to Frands Peter Peterson and after marriage making her home in Grass Valley in answer to the call of the Sevier stake president, Joseph A. Young, in the year 1874. They settled on the present site of Koosharem and here there second son, John Erastus was born, the first white child born in Koosharem. Surviving are two sons and three daughters; Frands Peter Peterson, John Erastus Peterson and Mrs. Peter Scorup of Salina, Miss Clara Peterson, and Mrs. Alma Brown of Koosharem; 21 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. One brother, Peter Christensen of California survives.
Mrs. Peterson died as she had lived, a faithful latter day saint and the entire community mourns her loss. In their hour of bereavement she has endeared herself to many of the people in our locality during the past fifty years when as Relief society worker she has assisted in preparing the dead for burial and in taking care of other responsibilities for the sorrowing families.
