KOOSHAREM —Mrs. Ethel Myrl Brown, 73, Utah Mother of the Year in 1955 and a Salt Lake Tribune correspondent for 25 years, died of a heart ailment Sunday at her home here.
SHE WAS BORN Feb. 14, 1888, a daughter of Frands T. and Ingar Nelson Peterson in Koosharem, and was married May 17, 1905, in Richfield to David A. Brown. The marriage was solemnized in -the Manti Temple, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, on their golden wedding anniversary in 1955. Mr. Brown died Oct. 16, 1958.
FIRST CAPTAIN of Cedar Grove Camp, daughters of Utah Pioneers, Mrs. Brown also was a member of the Singing Mothers of Koosharem and an active LDS Relief Society worker.
SURVIVORS INCLUDE three sons and five daughters: Grant Brown, Koosharem; Dr. Royal L. Brown, Riverside, Calif.; Dr. .Calvin R. Brown, Covina, Calif.; Mrs. Marvin (Ruby) Bradfield, Fortuha, Calif.; Mrs. Glen (Crystal) Baker, Provo; Mrs. Jack (Beryl) Dorland, Terrytown, N.Y.; Mrs. Phillip (Hazel) Gunderson, Phoenix, Ariz.; and Mrs. Eugene (Shirley) Allen, Lyman, Wayne County; 28 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL SERVICES will be conducted in Koosharem LDS Ward Chapel Thursday at 1 p.m. Friends may call at Springer Mortuary Wednesday from noon to 3 p.m. and at the family home until Thursday at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Koosharem Cemetery.
