Sarah was the daughter of Joseph McOllough and Elizabeth Pettit. She married Eli Agnew on 05 Nov 1872 in Cedar Co.,​ Iowa. they were the parents of William Nelson (1875), Luella, Pearl A (1878), Delila (1879), Mabel Elizabeth (1880), Charles Elford (1882), Mary J (1885, Willard Harey), Leo A (1887, Bertha Eubank), Paul Harrison (1888), Eva G (1890), Ivan Lloyd (1893), and McKinley. (3 boys and 1 girl died in infancy)

Carroll Daily Herald - Saturday , December 27th, 1930 - Funeral rites for Mrs. S.R. Agnew and Mrs. Will Agnew, both of Perry, were held at 1:30 this afternoon in the Methodist church at Dedham and burial was in the city cemetery. The services were conducted by the Rev. Floyd Smith of Woodward, a former pastor of Mrs. S.R. Agnew and a former Dedham boy.

Mrs. S.R. Agnew, who was 73 years of age, was formerly Misa Sarah Bielefelt of Dedham, where the greater part of her life was spent. Her husband died 38 years ago and after the close of the World War she left her home town and made her home with her children. They had eight children, one son, MacKinley Agnew, is dead and those surviving are: Will Agnew of Perry; Mrs. Mabel Else of Valley Springs, S.D.; Mrs Grace Bruce of Alpha, Minn.; Mrs. Jennie Harvey of Des Moines; Leo Agnew of Council Bluffs; Harry Agnew of Omaha, and Lloyd Agnew of Chicago.

Mrs. Will Agnew was formerly Miss Jennie Else and she was 51 years old at the time of her death. Mrs. Will Agnew was killed instantly and Mrs. S.R. Agnew was fatally injured Christmas morning when the auto in which they were riding was struck by a Minneapolis and St. Louis gas-electric train on the speedway crossing near Dallas Center. They were on their way to Des Moines to spend Christmas with the elder Mrs. Agnew's son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. W.W. Harvey. The train struck the rear end of the car and the two women were riding in the back seat. Mr. Agnew, who was driving, was only slightly hurt. Mrs. S.R. Agnew was removed to the hospital at Perry, where, she died a short time later.
