May 24, 1897 - Carroll Sentinel - Eli Agnew, an old citizen of Carroll county and of this city, died after a short illness at his home at Dedham Saturday from rheumatism of the heart. The funeral was held yesterday. The deceased was quite extensively known in this county as he has resided here many years. He leaves a large family to mourn his death.
Coon Rapids Enterprise - Friday , May 28th, 1897 - Dedham - E.H. Agnew, one of the pioneer settlers of Carroll county, died at his home three miles south-east of Dedham last Saturday morning. While at work in the field Tuesday he was taken suddenly ill with rheumatism of the heart. He suffered great pain until Saturday morning when he passed away. Rev. Harver preached the funeral sermon at the house Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. The remains were interred in the Dedham cemetery.
