BALLINGER-Thomas Egan, 80, of Ballinger, died at 10:45 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 1984 at Ballinger Memorial Hospital. Mr. Egan was born September 19, 1903 in the Antelope Community near Winters. He was the son of a pioneer family who moved to Ballinger in 1904. He graduated from Ballinger High School in 1922 and attended the University of Texas. He was a retired farmer, living west of Ballinger for the last 40 years and near Ballinger all of his life. He married Mabel Moore January 1, 1927 in Winter, Tx. He was an avid outdoor sportsman, a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Rowena, and belonged to the Knights of Columbus, Bishop Forrest Council and the local branch of Catholic Life. Rosary will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rowena. Funeral services will be Monday March 5, at 3 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rowena with Rev. Benedict Zientek of officiating. Burial will be In the Garden of Memories in Ballinger,
Survivors include his wife Mabel; one daughter Anne Hermann of Traverse City, Michigan; four sons, Tommy of San Angelo, Dan J. of Lancaster, Mike and Jerry of Ballinger; 16 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; two sisters, Sister Clement of San Antonio, and Frances Curtis of Ballinger. Two brothers, two sisters and one grandchild precede him in death.
