Anne E. Hermann passed away on Sept. 13, 2013, at the age of 85. Anne was born and baptized Mary Anne Egan, daughter of Tom and Mabel Moore Egan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Hermann. She grew up on the Egan farm just north of Ballinger with four younger brothers who survive: Tom and wife Betty of San Angelo; Dan and wife Josie of Lancaster; Mike and wife Virginia of Ballinger; and Jerry and wife Marilyn of Ballinger.

Anne graduated from Ballinger High School in 1944. Her last visit with classmates was at their 65th Class Reunion. She earned a BS in Home Economics from Incarnate Word College in 1948 and went to work as an Assistant Home Demonstration agent for Taylor County. She married Henry E. Hermann of Abilene at St. Joseph's Church in Rowena on February 18, 1950. Their six children survive, Henry K. and wife Janis of Midland, Beth of Palestine, Paul of Midland, Joffre of Midland, Julie and husband Brad Jones of Los Animas, Colo., and Kerstan and wife Christie of Lucas. Nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren also survive.

Henry worked for Shell Oil and they lived in several different locations. In Roswell, N.M., Midland, Traverse City, Mich., Houston and they retired to San Angelo in 1987. In Midland, Anne taught third grade at St. Ann's school. In Traverse City, she worked with Religious Education in Immaculate Conception Parish and as a Media Aide in Cherry Knoll School. Anne and Henry became deeply involved in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal. Anne continued her education by earning a Master's in Religious Studies from University of the Incarnate Word in 1992. When Henry retired and they moved to San Angelo, she served as Adult Education Coordinator at Holy Angels Parish for a number of years. Her love was leading adult Scripture classes, which also led to the creation of the week long Bible Fest in 1991 now held every year at Holy Angels Catholic Church. Anne received the lifetime achievement award from Pope Benedict, and has the Holy Angels parish library named in her honor. Anne was a member of the Sensia Garden club for a number of years. When she learned she had Parkinson's disease, she helped organize a Parkinson's Disease Support Group in San Angelo.

The Rosary will be 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, at Holy Angels Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013 at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Greenwell as celebrant. Interment will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home. Donations may be made to the local food bank or a favorite charity .
