NANCY NELL KNAUSS

Nancy Nell Knauss was born Sept. 8, 1891 in Huntsville, Utah, one of 10 children born to John and Lucinda Morgan. She met her husband Milo Knauss in Spokane, Wash. And they were married in February 1919.
In October that year, with three of Nell's brothers, they started out for Canada. Her brothers located in Clear Prairie and Nell and Milo in the small community of Peace River. Milo built their home on 101 Street-the first and last house of their own.
As the decades passed, Nell proved herself as an accomplished seamstress, doing alterations and fittings for Kay's Ladies Wear in town, but she also found time for her music and gardening and at one time, she taught piano.
She was a charter member of the Order of the Royal Purple Lodge Number 131 and for 12 years she was given a life membership in recognition of her 35 years of dedicated service.
The Girl Guides benefited from her energies too, and Nell was one of the leaders of the first company in that region. A commitment recognized by that organization last year.
Winter found her curling or playing bridge with her many friends but at age 86, her health was failing and in 1979 she moved into the Sutherland Nursing Home and in 1985 to the Auxiliary Hospital where she died on March 29, 1986.
She was predeceased by her husband in 1968 and Nell was the last of her immediate family, but numerous nephews and nieces will long remember her for her love of life and wonderful sense of humor.
Funeral services for the late Nancy Nell Knauss were held from the Chapel of Memories Funeral Chapel, Peace River, April 13th, 1986 at 1:30 p.m., Rev Mark Malek officiating.
Interment followed in Mount Pleasant cemetery, Peace River. Pall bearers were B.P.O.E members, Bill Mueller, Art Schmidt, Neil Roeleveld, Ernie Friesen, Mike Burrows and Al Robideau. Honor guard were members of the Royal Purple.
Funeral arrangements under the direction of Chapel of Memories (Peace River) Ltd.
