Ruth Herman, 84, WaKeeney, KS, died November 2, 2000, at Trego Lemke Memorial Hospital, WaKeeney. Mrs. Herman was born July 29, 1916, in Jetmore, KS, daughter of George Breit and Barbara (Roth) Breit.

Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Monday, November 6, at Christ the King Catholic Church, WaKeeney, with Father Donald F. Pfannenstiel officiating; burial in St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery, Ransom, KS. Visitation will be 2-7 p.m. Sunday, November 5, at Schmitt Funeral Home, 336 N. 12th, WaKeeney, where a wake service will be at 7 p.m. Arrangements: Schmitt Funeral Home, WaKeeney, KS.

She married Sal A. Herman on June 9, 1936, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Ransom, KS; he preceded her in death on March 13, 1993.

She was a bookkeeper for Dr. Francis Bice and later for Mai Oil Company, both of WaKeeney and retired in 1974. Mrs. Herman was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and the Altar Society, VFW Randall Reid Post 3449 Ladies Auxiliary, Treasurer of the Avenue of Flags, all of WaKeeney, Women of the Moose of Albany, GA; a former member of the Trego Lemke Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and the Sunflower Club, both of WaKeeney, and the Quilters Guild of Wichita. She graduated with the Class of 1934 from Arnold High School, Arnold, KS.

Mrs. Herman is survived by a son, Terry E. Herman, Lenexa, KS; brother, R. Dale Breit, Hoxie, KS; sisters, Anna Belle Tanner and Vivian Borom, both of Albabany, GA; grandchildren, Derek Herman, Mobile, AL, Tague Herman, Overland Park, KS, Cristie Apperson, Shawnee, KS, and Ryan Herman, Lenexa, KS; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Colin and Shaye Herman, all of Mobile, AL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Sylvester, Victor, George Jr. and Robert Breit; and one sister, Helen Marhofer.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trego Lemke Hospital, Avenue of Flags, Christ the King Catholic Church, or to Masses.
