Clara M. Norris

Clara Norris passed away peacefully at her home in Roeland Park, Kansas, surrounded by her loving family on Friday, November 14, 2008. She was born in Chariton County, Missouri, on May 17, 1924 to Fred and Bernadine Nanneman. She was raised on the family farm with her two sisters and five brothers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 19, 2008; Christ the King Catholic Church in Kansas City, Ks. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, Ks. Friends may call 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, at Joseph A. Butler & Son Funeral Home, 19th & Minnesota Ave., KCK, where the Rosary will be said at 5:30 p.m. In lieu of plants and flowers, please remember Clara with a memorial to Christ the King Church, 3024 N. 53rd St., KCK 66104.

She married Robert (Bob) Norris shortly after his return from service in World War II. They were happily married for 53 years until his death in 1999. In that lifetime together they were blessed with six children. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and served "Sloppy Joe" lunches at the school. She helped many years at the St. Mary's Food Kitchen in KCK. She worked for the Kansas City Kansas School Lunch Central Kitchen where she baked breads and desserts. Clara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three of her brothers. She is survived by her brother, Alvin Nanneman of Claycomo, Missouri, and her two sisters, Laurene Davis of Bynumville, Missouri and Sister Mary LaSalle O.S.F. of Dubuque Iowa. She is also survived by her six children, Robert (Kay) Norris, Larry (Mildred) Norris, Barbara (Gary) Long, David (Linda) Norris, Daniel (Terry) Norris and Anita (John) Hartman; 22 grandchildren, two step grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

She was fondly known as Momma Norris in her KCK neighborhood and later as Grandma Norris to friends and family alike. We all love her. (Arr.: Joseph A. Butler & Son, 913-371- 7000)
