Nicholas John Stokey, age 44 years, 11 months and 9 days, was born in Newark, Ohio, December 19, 1892. Nothing is known of his early youth or what year he came to the west.

On July 17, 1913, he was united in marriage to Katherine Clay, at North Platte. This union was blessed with 12 children.

Mr. Stokey worked in the roundhouse for the Union Pacific at North Platte for 10 years. In 1925, the family moved to Denver, Colo., where he was employed as a fireman for an electrical plant. In 1927, the family moved to Lewellen where Mr. Stokey was interested in beet raising.

On July 19, 1931, at the age of 34 years, 9 months and 13 days, his wife passed into eternal rest.

He entered rest unexpectedly, Saturday evening, November 28, 1936, the results of a car accident.

He is survived by nine sons, Edward, Joseph, Vernon, John, Charles, Roy, Fred, Raymond and Herbert of Lewellen; three daughters, Mary, Clara and Lucy of Lewellen; one brother, John Stokey (address last known as Maxwell, Nebraska); one sister, Frances (marriage name not known) of Alaska. Funeral services were held from Grace Lutheran church Tuesday afternoon, the pastor, Rev. C. M. Alexander, officiating. I. W. Wright of Oshkosh had charge and burial was made in the Ash Hollow cemetery.
