Carl Schaefer Dies

Funeral To Be Friday

Funeral services for Carl Schaefer, retired farmer whe died early this morning at his home in Sterling, will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon, May 21., at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sterling, with Rev. Bunde Skov officiating. Mr.Schaefer had resided in Sterling for three years, after living some years in Crook,Colorado.
Born July 11, 1883 at Niedermanjou, Russia. Mr Schaefer was the son of Henry and Anna Elizabeth Reimer Schaefer. On November 15, 1904 he married Anna Marie Eckert in Niedermanjou Russia and the couple came to the United States in 1909. Mr and Mrs Schaefer settled in Chicago for a short time and in 1910 moved to Great Bend Kansas, where they farmed and then to Crook area in 1927. They farmed in Crook area until their retirement in 1945, at which time they move to Sterling.
Mr. Schaefer is a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.
Surviving Mr. Schaefer is his wife Anna Marie of Sterling; five sons,Henry Schaeffer of Hoisington,Kansas,Jacob Schaefer of Walkerton,Indiana, John C. Schaffer of Crook, Nickolas and Leo Schaefer of Sterling: two daughters, Dorothea Rieb of Crook, and Annie Elizabeth Kiel of Sterling; a brother Jacob Schaefer of Woodland, California: two sisters Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Rieb of Nisland, S.D., and Mrs.Marie Rieb Jr. of Crook, and 16 grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are in charge of A.D.Jackson and Son Mortuary. Pallbearers for services are Henry Likai, Fred Luft,Casper Roth,Joy Hook,and Henry Muth. Burial with be at Riverside Cemetery.
