Norma Banks Wilkes, 91, died Sunday, August 7, 2005, at Evans Memorial Hospital. The Tattnall County native was Valedictorian of the 1931 graduating class of Glennville High School. She worked for 41 years at Lipsitz's Department Store where she became manager and part-owner before retiring. She was also a member of Glennville First Baptist Church where she served on numerous committees.

She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, John and Mildred Bacon of Lenoir, North Carolina; a brother-in-law, J. I. Thompson of Glennville; a sister-in-law, Nanelle S. Bacon of Jesup; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 10, at Cobb Funeral Home, Glennville chapel, with the Rev. J. Edwin Bacon, Jr.; the Rev. William C. Bacon; and the Rev. Keith Rustin officiating. Burial was in Glennville City Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Gary Banks, Wayne Brewton, Dorsey Thompson, Bran Thompson, Stephen Crisp, and Adam Crisp.

Remembrances can be made to the First Baptist Church Keenagers, 321 W. Barnard St., Glennville, Georgia 30427.
