During Glenna's childhood, she attended the public schools at La Cygne. An eighth grade school graduation souvenir from Rock Springs School, District No 61 in Linn County Kansas 1921-1922 shows they all went to the same one room school: Glenna and Allen Orndorff, James, Jess, Rosie and Oscar Mills.

UNION GAP - Glenna B. Powers, 96, died Thursday, December 23, 2004, at Parkside Nursing Care Center in Union Gap. She was born August 5, 1908 to Unie Josephine (Spain) and Aljornan Orndorff in Somerset, Kansas.
Glenna's first husband, Walter Buhrman, was the one true love of her life. She shared his passion for the outdoors and learned to cook the fish and game he amply supplied to feed their growing family.
Together they spent the next 25 years raising their seven children.
After Walter died, Glenna found herself a single parent with a family to raise. She rose to the occasion with an inner strength and an insurmountable spirit. She continued to live and work in the Yakima Valley and later married Avery Powers.
Glenna came into her own during the second half of her life and became a strong and independent woman. She was self-sufficient and hard working. She worked for many years as an apartment manager. During the 13 years she resided at Suntowers she served as the building supervisor in charge of nighttime and weekend security. She had the keys to the building and took great pride in her responsibilities. She made many new friends and always felt she was part of the staff as well as a respected resident.
Glenna always had a favorite child and/or grandchild. Whenever you were with her, you were sure it was you. She had a way of making everyone feel they were the most important person in her life. Her caring and compassion was far-reaching and was felt by many people outside the family.
Glenna never said a bad word, but her sense of humor and playfulness gave new meaning to "young at heart"! She never made a lot of money, but always seemed to have a little extra if someone needed it. She wasn't well educated but she had wisdom that was sought by us all. We know the gates of heaven opened wide to welcome in this tiny woman. She touched the lives of many and will be surely missed by all.
Survivors include her seven children, Margie Porritt of Missouri, Delbert (Janice) Buhrman of Kansas, Clyde (Doris) Buhrman of Oregon, Ruth Dozier of Yakima, Paul Buhrman of Idaho, Diana (Rick) Griffin of Selah and Wanda (Fred) Dupre of Yakima; 21 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday and Tuesday at Keith & Keith Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Wednesday, December 29 at Keith & Keith with burial following at Tahoma Cemetery.
