Mary Iona Powell, 80, died Wednesday, July 20, 2005, at Tattnall Community Hospital.
The Tattnall County native had lived in Glennville most of her life. She was retired from Glenvue Nursing Home, a homemaker, and attended Calvary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Morgan Powell.
She is survived by sons and daughters: Jimmie E. Powell of Honena Path, South Carolina; Tommie G. and Debra Powell of Eustis, Florida; and Johnny C. and Elvie Powell of Glennville; a brother, James Bacon of Alston; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; a special niece, Lavern Sapp; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 23, at Carter Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Wilford Harden and the Rev. Jimmy Bargeron officiating. Burial was in Glennville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Mike Driggers, Tommy Powell, Timmy DeLoach, Jesse Moon, Michael Powell, and Branden Padgett.
Carter Funeral Chapel of Glennville, Georgia, was in charge of the arrangements.
