Goldie was born to George & Virta Austin on July 11, 1899 at Thayer Nebraska. She attended a one room school in the Thayer area. When she was 9 years old her family moved to Itasca County in Northern Minnesota as land was more plentiful. They cleared land South and North of what is now Austin Lake which is about 3 miles South of this Cemetery. They built a log home on the north side of the lake. She had a sister and 3 brothers who all attended a log school only a half mile away. In 1917 she married Arthur Rima and together they farmed about 140 acres which is about 3.5 miles South of this Cemetery, raised 4 children. The farm was sold in 1945 because of Arthur's health and they moved to Grand Rapids. Goldie worked for some time in the Itasca Hospital and Dahls bakery.
After Arthur passed away she traveled from coast to coast visiting her children, grand children and relatives. When she became unable to care for herself properly she moved to the Manor House in Grand Rapids where she lived until she died in 1991. Goldie was survived by 4 children Russell, Calvin, Alma & Merton, five grand children numerous nieces and nephews.
