Miss Charlotte Cumberson. 65, of 227 Sheetz street, West Lafayette, died at St. Elizabeth hospital at 4:50 p. m. Tuesday. She had been in failing health for more than a year. She was the daughter of John Jay and Mary Adelle (Grogan) Cumberson and was born and reared in Lafayette. Her father came here in the 40's from" Near York and engaged in the jewelry business with T. P. Emerson. Later he was a partner in the Cumberson-Rising-Kachlein jewelry firm, formerly situated in this city on the west side of the public square. For thirty years Miss Cumber-son was employed in the state chemist's offices at Purdue university, retiring from her work this summer because of illness. She was a member of the Central Presbyterian church and of the Lafayette Business and Professional Women's club.
The only immediate surviving relatives are a sister, Mrs. Grant Bronmiller, of Tynor, Ind., and a niece, Mrs. Gladys Crain Stren-low, of Peoria, 111.; two sisters and a brother having preceded her in death. The body was taken to the Bradshaw funeral home, where services will be held at 2 p. m. Thursday, according to tentative plans. Burial will be in Greenbush cemetery.
