Mrs. Fredericka Schumacher Reiser died at the home of her daughter. Mrs. Nicholas Velton, in this city (Ashland), at 11:05 Monday morning, June 1, 1931, at the age of 89 years, 4 months and 15 days, after an illness extending over several years.
When she was twenty-two years old she came from northern Germany with her brother and settled in this vicinity, where she has since made her home with the exception of several years spent in Texas. In 1866 she was united in marriage to Louis Reiser, who preceded her in death March 14, 1888. To them twelve children were born; Two, Joseph and John died in infancy and a daughter, Mrs. Fred Brehm on May 13, 1930.
Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Augusta Reiser, six sons and three daughters: Martin, Charles, Anthony, Mrs. Nicholas Velten and Mrs. Elizabeth Gutmann of this vicinity; Louis, Ed., Frank and Mrs. L.H. Bruni of Texas; fifty-two grandchildren and thirty-nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 9:00 o'clock Wednesday morning from St. Augustine's church in Ashland, Rev. D. O'Brien officiating. Burial was beside her husband in St. Mary's cemetery at New Berlin.
Those who cared for the many beautiful floral offerings were Alvena Velten and Louise Reiser. The casket bearers were Albert, Joseph and Emil Reiser, Henry, Peter and William Wallbaum.
