"Milton Sharp Murphy, 85, died Aug. 23, 1996, at Washoe Medical Center.
"A native of Big Pine, Calif., he was born May 1, 1911, to John and Mary Ella Sharp Murphy, and had lived in Reno since 1929, coming from Wells, Nev.
"Murphy was a senior electrical engineer for Nevada Bell, retiring in 1971. He was a 33rd-degree mason and a member of Masonic Lodge 13, Free and Accepted Masons, Scottish Rite Bodies of Reno, Reno B.P.O. [Benevolent and Protective Order] Elks Lodge 597, Reno Shrine Club, Institute of Electrical Engineers and was a life member of Telephone Pioneers. He received a degree in electrical engineering from University of Nevada, Reno in 1933.
"His first wife, Isabelle M. Murphy, died in 1971; a brother, John died in 1990.
"Surviving are widow, Helen, son, Marvin W., daughter, Ellen Fockler and sister, Alice Boroughf [sic?], all of Reno; son, Robert M. of Raleigh, N.C.; sister Mary Dixon of Doyle, Calif.; and nine grandchildren.
"Visitation is scheduled from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Walton Funeral Home, Reno."
