Franklin Russell Long was the son
of Isaac Long 1 and Rebecca Rowland
Perkins Long. He was their fourth
child.

He was the husband of Martha M.
"Hopper" Long.

Franklin was a grandson of Rev. George W.
Long 1 and Nancy Elizabeth "Maples" Long.

Franklin was next to the youngest of his
5 sibblings. His sibblings were:
Eliza
Alexander
Angeline
Calvin
Andrew

Franklin's parents, Isaac and Rebecca
Rowland Perkins were married March 26,
1839, in McMinn County, Tennessee.
Later moving to Georgia for sometime and
went on to settle in Arkansas.
Franklin and Andrew Posey were born in
Walter County, Georgia. Three of Franklin's
siblings were born in McMinn Co., Tennessee.
They were Eliza,Alexander and Angeline. His
brother Calvin was born in Hamilton County.

In 1858, Franklin came with his family
to Harristownship, Izard Co., Arkansas.
This home was located on South Sylamore
Creek and a large acreage. During the
Civil War, their home was totally
destroyed by some of the Bushwachers and
Isaac was seriously wounded. After Isaac
healed, he moved his family to Rolla,
Missouri. Franklin's father joined the
Union and about a year after, Isaac took
very ill and died in St. Louis.

Franklin, Rebecca and his siblings returned
to their homestead in Arkansas, Stone County.
After his mother's death, some of the land
was then established for the Long Cemetery.

This Long cemetery is on his father's old
farm place. His mother and several sibblings
are also buried here. Franklin's father, Isaac
Long 1 is buried in the Jefferson Barracks
National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri.
Isaac Long served in the Union, Civil War.

After his mother's death, Franklin became
owner of the old home place. He married
Martha Ann Hopper on May 6, 1883. They were
the parents of 11 children:

He then bought a second farm near Mountain
View, the new County Seat, and managed both
farms for several years. They sold the town-farm,
but retained the creek-farm. Franklin died of
a stroke in 1929 and buried in his Long Family
Cemetery. Martha remained living on their farm
for several years. Later, she rented it out
to some of the family and made her home with
different ones of her grown children. Martha
was walking a short distance to her old family
home to visit her daughter-in-law when she
had a heart attack and died May 1, 1936. She
also is buried in the Long Family Cemetery.
