He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II, the European Theatre and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.
He was employed for a number of years at Ski-Land Woolen Co., Clinton, and later at the woolen mill in Orono. He was a member of several horseshoe pitching clubs, including the National Horseshoe Association. He had been the winner of Class E. Tournament several years ago. He made cabinets and novelties as a hobby.
Survivors include four sons, Roger of Winslow, Alton of Stockton Springs, Dale of Searsport and Scott of Brooks; a daughter, Mrs. Sheldon (Helen) Hubbard of Unity; a sister, Mrs. Roscoe (Lillian) Cook of Troy; 15 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home in Unity with the Rev. Gary Soule officiating. Burial will be in Unity's Pond Cemetery.
