Obituary

Mrs. Emma Catherine Craig was born in Philo, Illinois, Champaign county, in 1879. She moved with her parents to Greenwood county, Kansas, when she was three years of age. When she was 11, she moved south of McCune and later to McCune.

Emma C. Dunnic was married to Ed P. Craig, January 24, 1901, at McCune. They made their home south of McCune. In 1907 they moved to Cherokee where they have lived ever since. To this union five children were born, three having preceded her in death, an infant son and daughter, and Zekie J. Two daughters survive her, Lola Jane and Nora May, besides the husband.

Mrs. Craig held membership in the Methodist church, the Eastern Star lodge and the Security Benefit Association.

Funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church by Rev. Sam Hedrick and burial was in the Cherokee cemetery.

We have known Mrs. Craig ever since the family came to Cherokee and she was one of the finest women we have ever known. Just a few weeks ago we went to Chetopa with her to attend a concert given by the pupils of Nora May, and she was about the proudest mother we ever saw. She enjoyed the trip, and we all knew that she was ill at that time. But we are sure glad that she got to make the visit.
