William Edward Sharp was born in Austin, Texas in 1890. He was born to George and Ella Sharp. They called him "Willie." He tested dirigibles in the Navy and fell 500 feet into the water from one of them. It caused him to lose his voice, except when he was shocked by one of his shipmates. His voice only lasted two days. He married Fannybelle Williams and had Austin Buren, Ella Alle, Frank George, William Edward Jr., and Gerald Lee Sharp. He was subjected to mustard gas in WWI, and it ruined his lungs. He died on April 6, 1929 (tombstone says 7th) of pneumonia in Ft. Sam Veteran's hospital.
