Hobart M. Brown Sr. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Riggin-Pillatsch Funeral Home in Carterville for Hobart Marshall Brown Sr., 86, of Cambria. Burial will be in Blairsville Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mr. Brown died Monday, Jan. 9, 1984, at 3:40 p.m., at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.

He was a retired coal miner and was a member of United Mine Workers and the Cambria Methodist Church. He was a World War I veteran. He was born March 24, 1897, in Williamson County, to Marshall and Madaline Moore Brown. He was married Sept. 26, 1919, in Williamson County, to Georgia Mae Allsup. She died in October 1982.

Survivors include one daughter, Wanda Storme of Carterville; two sons, Hobart Brown Jr. of Cambria and Argel Brown of New York; one sister, Opal Claunch of Cambria and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Louis Coit of Zeigler; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by one daughter and six brothers and sisters.
