Robert L. Smith, 80, of Naples, Ky., died Oct. 1, 2008, in Community Hospice Care Center.

Mr. Smith was born Feb. 17, 1928, in Meadow Creek, W.Va., a son of the late Perry C. and Emily Jane Hume Smith. He was also preceded in death by a brother, William Smith, and sisters Bobbi Morris and Betty White.

He was a journeyman electrician with IBEW Local 317 and a 53-year member of Pentecostal Holiness Tabernacle in Flatwoods, Ky.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years as of Sept. 10, Jane Ann Hale Smith of Naples; two sons, the Rev. Jeffery E. Smith (Donna) of Danleyton, Ky., and Steven R. Smith (Sherri) of Greenup, Ky.; a daughter, Stephanie L. Thompson (Russ) of Cannonsburg, Ky.; four grandchildren, Joshua Smith, Jennifer Smith, Tabitha Mullins and Valerie Lewis; two great-grandchildren, Isaac Lewis and Josiah Lewis; a brother, Perry C. Smith of Williamstown, W.Va.; and two sisters, Hearthia Rizzuto of Metairie, La., and Maude Ellen Richardson of Ashland, Ky.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4 at the Pentecostal Holiness Tabernacle in Flatwoods by the Rev. Lloyd L. Bailey. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today, Oct. 3 at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods.
