Jessie L. Brown, 70, of Andalusia, died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2001, at an Andalusia hospital.

Mr. Brown was an Army veteran and an active member in West Highland Baptist Church. He worked most of his life as an insurance salesman.

A funeral was held Friday, Aug. 24, at 10 a.m. at Keahey Funeral Home with the Rev. Lavon Burke and the Rev. C.W. Mullins officiating. Special music was provided by Helen Grissett and Sherry Henderson. Burial followed in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery.

Srvivors include his wife, Frances Evelyn Brown of Andalusia; a son and a daughter-in-law, Rev. Lamar and Audrey Brown of Andalusia; two grandchildren and their souses, Anthony and Molly Brown, and Amy and John Engeln, all of Andalusia; a great-grandchild, Tyler Morgan Maddox; three sisters, Bessie Owens, of Brandon, Miss., Althea Beesley of Andalusia, and Estelle Spurlin of Huntsville' a sister-in-law, Mrs.J.C. Brown of Mckenzie; and a brother-in-law, Winston Hollingsworth of Madison.

He was preceded in death by a great-grandchild, Sierra Nichole Engeln.

Pallbearers were Dewayne Beesley, Revaughn Hawsey, Renay Hawsey, Phillip Ray, G.G. Scott, and Buford Smith.
