Grace Etta Kennedy Morrissey, 100, Holton, died Monday, Dec. 20, 1993, at a Holton nursing home.
Mrs. Morrissey was a grade school teacher for 30 years in Jackson County.
She was born April 15, 1893, in Clarinda, Iowa, the daughter of Allen and Nancy Alice Patterson Kennedy. She ws graduated in 1911 from Holton High School and later from Washburn University in Topeka. She lived most of her life in Jackson County.
Mrs. Morrissey was a member of First United Methodist and an active member of United Methodist Women, taking part in various types of mission work.
She was married to Charles M. Morrissey, Jan. 2, 1920 in St. Joseph, Missouri. He died Dec. 3, 1959. A grandson, Charles Farmer, died in October 1973 and a daughter-in-law, Mary Morrissey, died Sept. 10, 1992.
Survivors include three daughters, Ellen Fahey Farmer, Hot Springs, Ark., Marguerite Hale, Mayetta and Grace A. Bay, Topeka; a son, J. Neil Morrissey, Hoyt; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Holton. Family and Friends will meet from 7 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church in Holton or Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery in care of Kansas State Bank, Holton 66436.
