Paul Lamont Gabriel, Jr.
LINCOLNTON -- Mr. Gabriel, age 83, of 4717F Edwards Mill Road in Raleigh and formerly of Lincolnton, passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2007 at Rex Hospital in Raleigh.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at Hollybrook Cemetery with Rev. Joe Ervin officiating. The family will receive friends at the grave following the service. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Raleigh.
Mr. Gabriel was born on December 6, 1923 in Lincoln County to the late Paul Lamont and Lettie Goodson Gabriel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Paul 'Bud' Gabriel III and Michael Reid Gabriel; and two brothers, General Charles A. Gabriel and J.B. Gabriel. Mr. Gabriel was a graduate of Lincolnton High School and the Citadel and a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II. He was a retired supervisor from Prudential Insurance Company.
Survivors include his wife, Elsie Summey Gabriel of the home; one sister, Betty Ross of Lincolnton; two brothers, Steve Gabriel of Asheville, and S.G. 'Shirley' Gabriel of Rutherfordton; and one grandson, John Paul Gabriel.
Memorials may be made to Benson United Methodist Church, 4706 Creedmore Road, Raleigh, NC 27612.
Warlick Funeral Home in Lincolnton is serving the Gabriel family.
