George Nolta, for many years a well known resident of State Center, died at the St Thomas Hospital in Marshalltown. He had gone to the hospital where he underwent a major operation for carcinoma. He had been in failing health for several months.
Mr Nolta was born at Yorkville, Ill on Mary 6, 1863 and came with his parents to Iowa in 1876. He was united in marriage to Sophia Wohlert who preceded him in death thriteen years later. In Feb 1900 he was united in marriage to Mrs Emma Kurth of State Center.
After having farmed for many years northwest of this city they moved to town in 1913.
Mr Nolta is survived by his widow and the following children and step-children: John of Madelia, Minn; Mrs Lyle Mooney of Tama; Mrs Gifford Ficken of Rosetown, Sask, Canada; Wm and Ella Kurth of State Center; and Lee and Arthur Nolta of State Center. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; five brothers: William of Farnamville; Oran, Fred, Ernest and August of State Center; and a sister Mrs Minnie Pfantz of State Center. Four children, Gifford, Ray and Arnold and a child in infancy preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held at the home and after that at St Paul Lutheran Church with pastor Rev AH Schultz in charge. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery.
