Oscar J Newman Sr. 96 of Fort Smith died friday, January 19,1990 in a Fort Smith nursing home. He was a retired mirror polisher for Willard Morror Co.,a member of the Northside United Pentecostal church and attended Ragon Senior Citizens center. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. in the Northside United Pentecostal Church. Burial will be at Barling Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. He is survived by five daughters, Savannah Rutledge, Opal Edwards. Loretta Benton, all of Fort Smith, Mildred M Brown of Lavaca and Rosemary Stroud of Wilmot;one son Oscar J Jr. of Fort Smith; one sister, Grace Nicodemus of Dallas; 16 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, 14 great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Riley Brown Jr., Sherman Brown, J.D.Jeffcoat, Bobby Smithson,Elton Ray Benton, Larry Newman, Robert Rutledge and Louis Stroud.
