I have thought long and hard about what to say about my aunt Dawn. There just are not words enough to describe what a wonderful person she was. She was a strong woman, who raised her family of seven kids. Her legacy continues as she would be a great grandma by now. She died of cancer at the age of 53 and left us all to watch over each of us from heaven. I think of her often and miss her very much.
She was survived by her husband John, who later joined her, her seven kids (her son Robert "Bob" Finley has since joined his parents), and what has grown to 22 grandkids (Cinda and Mike Nanos have gone on to join her since her death), and several great grandkids. Not to mention all extended family of sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews.
She was second to youngest of a family of 12 kids born to Elsie Naomi and Lawerance Guy Atkinson in Woods Cross, UT. She raised her family in Salt Lake City. She cared for everyone and assisted some of her siblings and her parents while they were ill/dying. She was a person you could count on being there and always made one feel special just for being with her.
My aunt Dawn was one of the greatest people I could ever hope to know and cant wait to be with her again some day. I can feel her in things that I do along the way and find comfort in knowing she is there for me.
