Suggested edit: Mary was born near the upper Collins River, very close to Philadelphia, Tarlton & Savage Cove Creek. This area was originally part of Warren County but became part of Grundy County the year she was born. It is believed that they lived in the same house until her father, William Calhoun Smartt, died in 1867. In 1868 she married Hiram Fults, Grundy County, TN. Issue were at least seven known children, one, Lewis, became the Mayor of Altamont, TN. Mary died at her home in the Harrican community, where most of her children were born.
