Paul Stanley "Paulie" Byrd, 76, of Laurel, died Saturday, September 6, 2008, at South Central Regional Medical Center.Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. this afternoon at Oakland Grove Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Mike Powell and the Rev. Macon Phillips will officiate. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m.Mr. Byrd was a member of Oakland Grove Baptist Church and was a supervisor with Laurel Lumber Co.He is preceded in death by his parents, Millard and Annie Lou Byrd; three brothers, Hal Byrd, Vester Byrd and Curtis Byrd; and great-granddaughter, Haeley Blackledge.Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Rosie Lee Byrd of Laurel; three sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby Ray and Wilma Blackledge of Laurel, Nelson and Carolyn Byrd of Laurel, and Danny and Darlayne Byrd of Laurel; two daughters and a son-in-law, Fannie Byrd of Laurel and Margie and Kent Crider of Lumberton; two brothers, J.D. Byrd of Heidelberg and Wayne Charles Byrd of Laurel; two sisters, Betty Collins of Ellisville and Annis McCarty of Ellisville; 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.Visitation was Sunday at Memory Chapel.Men of the church will be pallbearers and Inactive Deacons of the church will serve as honorary pallbearers.Memory Chapel is in charge of services.
