Wayne Charles Byrd age, 73, of Laurel, died Friday, July 10, 2015, at Jones County Rest Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 13, 2015, at Florence Congregational Methodist Church with burial to follow at the church cemetery. Rev. Jimmy Holden will officiate.
Mr. Byrd served in the U.S Army and He loved fishing and the mountains.
He was preceded in death by his parents Millard and Annie Byrd, four brothers Curtis, Paulie, Vester, and Hal Byrd.
Survivors include three daughters; Pam and Scotty Mercer of Laurel, Debbie and Darren Combs of Jacksonville, FL, Janet and Neil McIlwain of Waynesboro, MS. One brother; J.D and Shirley Byrd, of Sandersville, MS. Two sisters; Betty Collins, of Ellisville, MS, and Anice Harper, of Collins, MS. Four grandchildren; Michael Stevens Mercer, Allison Mercer McClellan, Kristen Combs, and Kylie Combs. Nieces; Fannie Byrd, Rhonda Underwood. and a host of other relatives.
Pallbearers will be; Mike Stephens, John Marshall Ishee, Jeremy Stephens, Danny Byrd, Nelson Byrd, Jarrod Byrd.
Visitation will be held beginning at 5:00 p.m. Sunday, July 12, 2015, at Memory Chapel in Laurel.
