OBITUARY:
Harry C. Hogue, son of Clinton and Lucy Margaret Hogue, was born August 28, 1884 at Barnes, Kansas and passed away at his home near Barnes April 1, 1966 having reached the age of 81 years, 7 months, and 3 days. Harry attended Barnes High School and was graduated from there in 1903. He was an ardent baseball fan and played with the local teams in his early manhood. He was born and lived his entire life on the same section of land. He was united in marriage to Clara Peterson of Waterville and they lived on their farm their entire married years which were over fifty-four. They have one daughter, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his wife, Clara of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Virginia Gnagy of Waterville; two grandchildren, Barrie Lee and Cheryl Ann Gnagy of Waterville; three brothers, Walter of Manhattan, Kansas; William of Portland, Oregon and Joel of Carnegie, Oklahoma, also a number of nieces and nephews and many friends. Funeral services were held Monday, April 4, 1966 at 10:00 a.m. in the Waterville Methodist Church with Reverend John Richter officiating. Mrs. C.H. Youngberg sang, "No Night There" and "Old Rugged Cross" with Mrs. A.N. McAtee accompanist. Casket bearers were: Frank Taplin, Warren Clark, Floyd Clark, Walter Moore, Oscar Samsel, and Leonard Wehmeier. Interment was in Cottage Hill Cemetery at Waterville with the Greenleaf Masonic Lodge in charge and arrangements by Youngbergs. Relatives and friends from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mrs. Edith Donaldson, Perry, Oklahoma; Robert Donaldson, Stillwater, Oklahoma; Joel Hogue, Carnegie, Oklahoma; Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Arganbright, Jet, Oklahoma; Mrs. Ruth Darrough, Arkansas City; Walter Hogue, Jay Wanamaker, Manhattan; Mrs. Harry Balderson and family, Kansas City, Missouri; Mrs. Urban Koelzer, Seneca; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Taplin, Ogden; Mr. and Mrs. John Winkenwader and Mrs. Addie Wagoner, Topeka.
