Burial: March 20, 1916.
w/o Clinton Hogue
OBITUARY:
After being in ill health for two years and confined to her bed for about a week, Mrs. Clinton Hogue died Saturday morning, March 18. The funeral was held at the Christian church conducted by Rev. A.M. Crippin, pastor of the M.E. Church, assisted by the Rebekah Lodge, of which she was a member. She was also a member of the Ladies Circle No. 130, of the G.A.R. The funeral took place Monday afternoon, March 20, at one o'clock. Lucy Catherine Strong, only daughter of E.H. and Elizabeth Strong, was born in South Hadley, Mass, June 20, 1845. She came with her parents to Cuyahoga Falls Ohio in 1850. Here she grew to womanhood, taught school for a number of years, and on February 14, 1866, was married to Clinton Hogue. The young people came directly to Andrew County, Mo., where they set up their home and where the two older children were born. In 1870 Mr. and Mrs. Hogue came to Kansas and located on their homestead a mile and three quarters east of Barnes where they continued to reside until they moved to Barnes in 1903. Mr. and Mrs. Hogue were the parents of twelve children, of whom ten, one daughter and nine sons are living, two daughters, Ella and Esther, having preceded their mother in death. In addition to her husband, children and grandchildren, Mrs. Hogue is survived by two brothers, Henry Strong of Barnes and Frank Strong of Lamar, Mo. and her uncle Joel Strong of Clinton, Mo. For many years Mrs. Hogue was a member of the Lutheran Church, but when that organization in Barnes disbanded, she became an attendant upon the services of the Methodist church and one year ago she united with that church. The family have the sympathy of every one in their bereavement. The_Barnes_Chief_1916_03_23_page_1
