William's siblings (12): John Frederick Young (1869-1962); Elizabeth Christina 'Lizzie' Michelfelder (1871-1963); Anna Mary Dehne (1872-1939); Bertha Julia 'Bert' Fouts (1974-1956); Christian Francis 'Christy' 'Frank' Young (1876-1945); Catherine Louisa 'Kate' Drinkut (1878-1938); Lolo (nmn) Eckel (1880-1963); Caroline Ida 'Carrie' Meany (1881-1904); Susan Leona 'Leo' Akard (1884-1932); Florence Magdeline 'Maggie' Maloney (1885-1964); Emma Helena Young (1888-1896) and Georgia Henrietta Akard (1890-1974).
The Youngs were Lutheran.
William married Anna Wilhelmina Carolina Hinderer (1872-1967) about 1890 in Lancaster, Fairfield Co, Ohio. The Jacob Young family (Will's parents and their children who were still at home) moved to Indianapolis in 1893. Apparently Will and his family moved to Indianapolis in 1906 - per his obituary.
William and Anna's children (9): Huldah Wilhelmina Miller (1891-1918); Catherine Elizabeth Adams Snider (1893-1970); Ralph Frederick Young (1897-1943); Edward Jacob Young (1900-1967); Bertha Louise Horton (1904-1990); William Michael Young Jr (1905-1978); Christian Cly 'Chris' Young (1907-1979); Harry Wesley Young (1911-1990) and John Frederick Young (1916-1992).
Tid Bits: He chewed tobacco and used a spittoon - all the while he would whittle (chains, etc). He loved woodworking - made children's toys, lawn chairs, etc. He was an avid reader. His favorite sandwich was cheese and onion.
When he sat down to a meal everything that he was to eat at that meal had to be on the table in front of him at that time or he wouldn't eat it (i.e. pie: couldn't be brought later - it had to be on the table before he sat down).
He was a railroad conductor and then before 1927 he started to work as a clerk for the Vonnegut Hardware Company and retired from there.
When he worked on the railroad there was a train wreck and the mother of a litter of pigs was killed - he brought the piglets home and his children 'adopted' them. The piglets ate 'leftovers' that were thrown on the back porch where they were kept.
Will made yearly trips to Pennsylvania to see his son, Ralph.
The last six or seven years of his life Will's eyesight was very bad.
He died in his sleep of natural causes at age 94 years 6 months 23 days.
