The cemetery is located on the north side of E. Washington Street (US 40), bounded on the east by N. German Church Road and on the north by 10th Street. The cemetery was established in the 1920s as a Masonic cemetery and was purchased by its current operator, the Washington Park Cemetery Association, in 1956.

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) feature ID for the cemetery is 445505 (Washington Park Cemetery East).

Indiana Cemetery Locations, Volume 1, published by the Indiana Genealogical Society (02 April 2005), gives the primary cemetery name as Washington Park East Cemetery.
