ღVery Special Auntღ

My mother's sister, Nell is the daughter of Jefferson "Jeff" Thomas Sides and Sarah Frances Morgan Sides.

Aunt Nell always treated me like I was hers whenever I was with her. She loved to take me to the store and buy me barrettes for my hair or a new dress or shoes. She lived her whole life as a brittle diabetic (Type 1) and on several occasions I was there to help when her blood glucose and her insulin did not balance out. She had taught me as a small child how to respond to these situations. She loved deep fried french fries, which no doubt was part of the problem :) and she made them for me (and years later, for my kids) when I came to her house. Her home always smelled of something good cooking. After I was a grown woman with my own children I realized how lonely Aunt Nell had been, missing her own beloved daughter who died so young after her long dress caught fire near the fireplace.

I will always remember you, Aunt Nell. You were one remarkable woman in so many, many ways.
