Death notice in Waxahachie Newspaper, Feb 15, 1958. Joseph Jeff Mitchell died early Saturday at his home in Milford. Born in Lawrence Co, TN on June 4, 1891. Mitchell came to Texas at the age of 16, settling in the Milford community, where he had made his home since. He was employed by the Helm Mfg Co in Ft Worth. He was a veteran of World War I, a member of the American Legion Post 496, and a member of the Love View Baptist Church. Survivors are his wife, Retha Mae Mitchell, seven sons, J C Mitchell of AZ, Joe Mitchell of Sardis, TX., R E Mitchell of Delaware, W B Mitchell of Ft Worth, Boyd Mitchell of Chicago, IL, Bill Mitchell of Massachusetts, Chester Mitchell of GA, four daughters: Mrs Juanita Rice of Alameda, CA, Mrs Gurnsey Martin of Milford, Mrs J W Knott of Hanover, PA, and Mrs Loretta Birch of Berkeley, CA; four brothers: Robert Mitchell of Itasca, TX, James Mitchell of Amarillo, TX, Wilson Mitchell of Ft Worth, and Willis Mitchell of San Diego, CA; four sisters: Mrs A W Hill of Ft Worth, Mrs Mary Terrell of Ft Worth, Mrs Bertha Beck of OK, and Mrs Grace Hill of CA; 21 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services are set for 3 PM Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Milford, with burial in the Milford Cemetery.
