In 1870 and 1880 he was farming in Dade County, Missouri. In 1900 he was living in Colorado, and by 1910 had moved to Lawrence County, Missouri.
After Rebecca's death in 1882, he married Susan Evaline Hunt in Lawrence County, Missouri on 28 January 1883. There had at least three children: Rhetta, Ora and Elbert.
