Jimmy Eugene was born in Waco, Texas, to the late James "Jim" Theodore and Alice (Carr) Courtney. He worked as a Service Manager at Montgomery Ward, until opening and operating Appliance Central on 25th St. in Waco. He attended Oaklawn Baptist Church. Jimmy loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially golf.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Beckum.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Hilda Courtney, of Lacy Lakeview; son, Charles Courtney and wife, Karen, of Gatesville; daughters: Vickie Yarbrough and husband, Allan, Penny Wade and husband, Steve, and Jennifer McKinney and companion, Kelly Kerr, all of Waco; grandchildren: Chance Yarbrough and wife, Haley, Yarbrough, Andrew, Adam and Alex Norris, Cameron and Conner McKinney, Kassi and Barton Courtney, and Steven and Hayden Wade; sisters, Ruby Jennings, of Corsicana, Lillie Johanson and husband, John, of Robinson, and Carolyn Nitschke and husband, Doug, of Robinson; uncle, Frank Holley, of Bellmead; many nieces and nephews including a special niece, Mary Beth Morgan; and his baseball and football buddies.
