Hilda Courtney, 70, of Lacy Lakeview, passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2014, in a local hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 30, at Oak Lawn Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Wilkirson officiating. Burial will be in Rosemound Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, August 29, at Bellmead Funeral Home.
Hilda was born in Malone, Texas, to the late J. C. and Nancy Ola (Ballew) Kornegay. She was the Director at Oak Lawn Day Care for 37 years until retiring. Hilda loved children and devoted her life to their care and nurturing. She touched many lives, was loved by all who knew her and she will be greatly missed. Hilda was a long time member of Oak Lawn Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Jimmy Eugene Courtney, who passed away August 25, 2008.
Survivors include her son, Charles Courtney and wife, Karen, of Gatesville; daughters: Vickie Yarbrough and husband, Allan, Penny Wade and husband, Steve, and Jennifer McKinney, all of Waco; grandchildren: Kassi Phillips and husband, Seth, Barton Courtney, Chance Yarbrough and wife, Haley, Courtney Yarbrough, Andrew Norris, Adam Norris, Alex Norris, Cameron McKinney, Conner McKinney, Aimee Gonsalves, Steven Wade and Hayden Wade; great-grandchildren, Adam Norris and Harper McKinney; sisters, Bobbie Holman, of Henrietta, and Melba Morgan and husband, Jack, of Austin; her sisters-in-law; uncle, Frank Holley, of Bellmead; aunt, Opal Nichols, of Hubbard; and many nieces and nephews.
