He was born on Jan. 2, 1900 in Vernal, the son of the late Joseph Steinaker and Emma Jane Searle. He attended schools in Lonetree, Wyo. He married the former Hillis Helene Hill in Meeker, Colo., on June 4, 1938. She preceded him in death on June 20, 1984.
Elbert was the owner-operator of the Manila Trading Company in Manila for 40 years and retired in 1980. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the B.P.O. Elks and a charter member of the Lions Club.
Elbert lived the last four years with his great-granddaughter and her husband, Kirk. They loved and took care of him.
Survivors include two sons, Elbert Joseph "Punky" Steinaker Jr., and wife, Lenita; and John Randolph "Randy" Steinaker and wife, Mary, all of Manila; two daughters, Dorothy Elaine Nash and husband, Ken, of Vernal; and Bobbette Aline Reich and husband, Alfred, Austin, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and one brother, William Steinaker.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8 in the Manila Ward Chapel in Manila with Bishop Ross Catron conducting.
Interment will be in the Manila Cemetery in Manila.
Friends may call at the Vase Funeral Chaple, 54 Elk Street, Rock Springs, Wyo., Wednesday afternoon and evening until 8 p.m. and again Thursday at the Manila Ward Chapel in Manila at 10 a.m. until services.
